In simple terms, chrome plating means to coat with a layer of chrome. Practical examples are chrome-plated bathroom fittings, chrome-plated brass or chromed bumpers. Chrome plating is a form of surface treatment where metal objects are covered with a chrome layer. At least it has been so far! For the company Verchromen24 has succeeded in applying chrome plating to any other objects such as plastic, wood or even glass – but more on that later…

Chrome plating means covering with a layer of chrome. So far so good.
a little more complicated is the answer to the question, how exactly does this process of chromium plating take place? The key point in chromium plating is electrolysis. A similar path is taken by galvanizing. Electrolysis is a process in which different components of metal are separated and made conductive with electricity. Electroplating also uses the electrochemical separation of metallic objects with the aim of making them conductive as well. Both methods, however, rely on the basic metal to be processed.

And here, too, Verchromen24 has broken new, surprisingly simple paths. Because the difficult and time-consuming (and ultimately expensive for the customer) electrolysis is replaced by the process of chemical chromium plating. In chemical chromium plating, it is no longer important whether an object is conductive or not (as it is imperative to electrolysis or plating). For this reason, chrome plating is no longer restricted to metal as a basic material. Therefore, wood, plastic, stone or whatever material can be covered with chrome. Verchromen24 has even succeeded in chrome-plating glass and hard rubber. How exactly do the experts at Verchromen24 do that, how exactly does this happen? Chemical chromium plating is done in three steps: As with many other jobs, a thorough and good preparation of the workpieces to be chrome plated is essential. All impurities are carefully and thoroughly removed, otherwise the final result will not have the desired mirror-smooth surface.

Second, the material is treated in the kiln. Here, a primer is first applied, which is dried at high temperatures in the oven. Finally, the metallization takes place. For this purpose, the piece to be chromed is covered with a thin layer of gold or chrome, just as the customer wishes. Company CEO Uli Kuitkowski says: “For a long time, I have long been annoyed by the difficult chrome plating processes that have taken place and have considered that a much simpler version must be possible. With our team, we have found this solution, resulting in a win-win situation for all involved. The chrome plating process has been simplified in terms of time and production – which allows us shorter production times – and the customer gets a cost-effective solution that spares its budget and makes financial effort manageable! “
